Servant-Leadership And Changing Times
Building on their successful session from last year's conference, Terri McNerney and Jane Little will offer yet more ways in which the philosophy of Servant-Leadership is relevant to today's challenging times. You will learn from real examples of organisations currently going through change & transition, and see how Servant-Leadership can offer a powerful alternative to many of the more traditional approaches, resulting in change that is both effective and long lasting.

Servant-Leadership And The Myers-Briggs Typology
In this workshop Ralph Lewis and Larry Spears will explore the ways in which servant-leaders can lead and serve in many different ways depending on their MBTI preferences. They will look at servant-leadership characteristics, personality type and the hierarchy of functions. Most important is the need to accept that the highest priority needs of others may well be different to ours and that the true servant-leader can understand and work with these differences in a positive and constructive way. Knowledge of your own type is not essential, but it may be helpful.

Why Serve? Why Lead?
People often ask, “What is a servant-leader?” It is a difficult question to answer - at least briefly. Perhaps the real question is “Why act as a Servant-Leader?”
We can gain insight by looking separately at serving and leading; then combining the two parts to help our overall understanding. This workshop will take the form of short presentations followed by extensive discussion and interaction. At the end of the workshop we will understand ourselves better as Servant-Leaders, and understand better what we can actually do as Servant-Leaders in our daily lives. We will write a working definition of Servant-Leadership to share with enquirers - short enough to be written on a beer mat.
The workshop, facilitated by Charlie Foote and Justin Gallagher will also result in a shared article that can be put on our web site and submitted to other publishing means. The article should be authored by all who attend and will be done with a Wiki (shared editing), all attendees having edit-access.

Sharon Torpey
Sharon Torpey writes: I am a business coach and change consultant with more than 20 years’ experience of helping individuals and businesses flourish across the public and private sector. My clients include Reed Elsevier, Moben, NHS, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arup.
The task for leaders today is extremely challenging - both ensuring the prosperity of their businesses whilst working positively with an unknowable future. I believe that successful leadership is a function of our capacity to build and sustain powerful relationships; engaging with each other and our differences in a way that is authentic and human. At the heart of this is we need to establish a strong sense of identity and belonging.
Born to Indian and British parents in the 1950s, this is a narrative I know well, growing up with the challenge of establishing myself in a world not accustomed to a ‘Hindian’ (I smiled when I recently discovered this as urban slang for being half Indian).
I have an MSc in Organisational consulting with Ashridge and am an accredited coach with the Association for Coaching.
